Inside My Makeup Bag

Inside My Makeup Bag

The post where I give you a guided tour inside my makeup bag where things are looking glowy, glossy and golden for Summer. I've got the dewy bases covered where I'm using tinted gels, silky foundations and a liquid highlighter that makes skin glisten. There's a concealer to keep my eyes bright and blemishes obey, a creamy all in one face palette, a new blusher that's got all beauty addicts talking, eyeshadow that takes seconds, a brow gel like no other and some tools to pull it all together.

The Bag

My makeup storage consists of Muji Acrylic drawers and this amazing Jigsaw Rosy Shrimp Large Wash Bag which I just love. The size is perfect for storing the makeup I switch between both daily and weekly and makes a great on the go beauty bag. It's spacious, easy to clean, covered in pink shrimps and even has a rose gold zip.

Complexion

BECCA Opal Shimmering Skin Perfecter: Pre foundation, CC, tinted moisturiser or concealer, I like to add in some extra glow. Although my skincare makes everything all very dewy, an illuminating primer is going to turn that glow up. I'm using the BECCA Skin Perfecter in Opal, a golden peach tone highlighter that creates lit from within radiance, making skin looking awake, enhanced and instantly blurred. It's also all full of anti-oxidant vitamins, giving your skin an extra shot of goodness.

Delilah Time Frame SPF20 Foundation: This light, buildable, hydrating, luminous, long wearing, UV protecting foundation is the newest addition to my base collection and one I've been reaching for on the days where I wear more than concealer. It's got a velvet texture that blends into the skin seamlessly with a damp sponge and despite it's super light formula, it'll keep you covered all day, even in the heat.

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Gel*: A mix between a BB and a CC, this super hydrating lightweight cream tinted gel provides a beautiful, natural coverage and a luminous finish. It's perfect for day to day wear when I want something that is comfortable and looks like skin but still offers enough coverage to give me a polished finish.

BECCA Ultimate Coverage Concealing Creme: As I keep my base pretty light, for any areas that need additional coverage I rely on concealer. This pot from BECCA is perfect for concealing blemishes, areas of redness and under the eye.

Cheeks

Hourglass Illume Trio Colour Palette: I like to keep my cheek products creamy and glowy just like my base and this Hourglass 3 in one palette ticks all the boxes. The bronzer is one of my all time favourites, it's cool toned, creamy, dewy and blends into the skin beautifully. I buff it in over my cheeks, across my temples and down my nose with a large kabuki brush to create a subtle golden glow, adding colour to where the sun would naturally hit. Unlike powders that although add colour, can sometimes make your complexion look flat, this sculpts the face adding a healthy lit from within glow. To pump up the colour on my cheeks, I blend the peach toned blush and champagne highlight together and pat on for a "flushed" and "I've just come out of the sun" finish.

BECCA Cheek Soufflé: Cheek tints, paints and stains are definitely one of my preferred ways to add colour to the face and along with the BECCA Beach Tints which I talk about all the time, I love the soufflés for their bouncy consistency that provides a luminescent wash of colour. Sadly these are no longer available but the Beach Tints can be found on SpaceNK and are just as good! (Fig and Grapefruit are my favourites)

Benefit GALifornia Blush: Powder blushes don't tend to sit in my makeup bag in the Summer but one as pink and golden as this, cannot be missed. This is the blush I reach for on days when my skin really needs a pick me up, it's a beautiful soft powder so doesn't cake, clog or flatten my complexion, it's golden peach tone simply illuminates and compliments the existing bronze tones.

Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight Celestial Powder: Ultra light, silky, sheer and champagne in colour, this highlight is the perfect companion to my already illuminated base. I either dust this over my cheek and brow bones or all lightly dust it all over the face for a ethereal, subtle glow.

Lids & Brows

Rosie Huntington Whitely for Autograph Almond Eyes Shadow Stick: I tend to leave my eyes to it in the Summer, a powdered shadow ends up creasing and a cream can just slip off so most days, I embrace the natural shine but keep this golden shadow stick near-by incase I'm need of some colour on the lids. It's easy enough to scribble on, blend in with my fingers and build up if needed.

Chanel Brun Châtain Stylo Eyeshadow: Another simple way to add some colour to my eyes but this ones a little more smokey in colour and tougher in longevity. Again, it's a cream stick formula that glides on effortlessly and adds a vibrant colour.

Benefit Gimme Brow: Brow gels are the only way I really tame my hairs these days. They are fuss free, quick, fill in the gaps and style, shape in one. Benefit being the brow brand, I haven't looked back since adding this into my routine and love how the microfibres stick to the hair for fuller brows.

Lips

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfecter: This is a must have in the Summer lip department and once moved into my makeup bag, it doesn't move out. I'm all for a tinted lip balm that adds a very subtle sheen to the lip (no sticky glosses wanted) and Clarins have ticked all the boxes again with these lip gels that hydrate and nourish whilst add a lovely tint of colour.

Hourglass Raven Liquid Lipstick: I still like to have the option of a bold, long lasting lip and there's nothing better in my stash than this pigmented, silky smooth lip colour from Hourglass. Although it's matte, it's got Vitamin E and Goji Berry in to keep lips protected and smooth. Orangey/red lipsticks are a good nude lip alternative for me, especially on holiday with bronzed skin.

Tools

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge: My favourite way to apply and blend foundation or concealer is a damp sponge and for me, the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion is the best in the sponge department. I run this under the tap and squeeze any excess water out before bouncing it onto my skin, I find this way the foundation is pushed into the skin and not smeared, which gives a far more natural looking complexion and offers a more dewy finish. I sometimes go in with a separate damp sponge to blend in my cream bronzer, blush and highlighter as it blends it all together seamlessly.

Real Techniques MultiTech XL Brush: Whether it's for buffing in foundation further into my skin to ensure a more seamless finish, blending bronzer or setting my face with a translucent powder, this is the brush for the task and it happens to be from my favourite brush collection to hit the shops.
